Turning Point Tuesday

Morning peeps!

Today is a big day. We have the Arizona and Michigan primaries.  The media tells me that Romney will win both but I’m not so sure. I really don’t know what is going to happen as I’m not too familiar with either state’s political climate.  I am shocked that Gov. Brewer endorsed Romney but I wonder if this is a way to blunt Santorum’s momentum.  If Romney wins both primaries tonight it really changes nothing since Santorum swept the last round.  No one expects Newt to pull out a win tonight and he is focused on other states so for him tonight won’t really impact him.

OK, so this weekend I lost my phone while at church.  I go to a mega church and we have a bookstore and coffee shop.  Mr. Firelight and I dropped our kiddos off and went to the bookstore first looking for the guide to our new small group study and then we hit the coffee shop that serves Starbucks.  Somewhere along the way I lost my iphone.  For such a big church, we know a lot of people. Thank the Lord because only those people would get just exactly what was about to happen and laugh their butts off.  They know me all too well…

I lost a bet with some of my best girlfriends and I had to change my ringtone to this song…  I’m not even going to deny that we are a fun and feisty group of girls and I totally owned this ringtone for the week I had it. Hey why not enjoy it while I had it right? We do stuff like this to each other constantly.  This time was a tad bit different. Of all times to lose my phone.  Does anyone know what you do when you are looking for your phone?…  you call it, over and over trying to see if you can hear it…

Let’s revisit just what song is my new ringtone. So picture this… Sunday morning at church and either in the bookstore or coffee shop that song keeps playing, LOL!  After looking for it, we found it in the coffee shop and the college kids (who also know me) started clapping when I came back in because they just knew that phone belong to one of about 4 possible people and I was one of those four.  So not only was losing the bet a bad thing but losing my phone IN church was a bad, bad thing…

Yesterday’s news:

Amen Mama Grizzly!

Lookie here!  Stacy Drake is published in Big Hollywood!

Hmmmmm, if Santorum takes Michigan than Romney needs to take Arizona… otherwise no brokered convention as Rick S. will be headed for more sweeps…  maybe Gov. Brewer is more strategic and not a disappointment…

Don’t we taxpayers own that apology and the paper it is printed on???

Jackass

Dumbass

I sure hope so…

Uh oh….. this is not something to fail

Why would they? I wouldn’t trust our government but that makes this scary as hell…

Well, he is big labor for a republican…

Not sure how I feel about this… so far not real good…

Dude I live in CO I wouldn’t give this up for money… I’ll take the tan…

This is a scary thought

Excellent

Gotta love Ted

This looks good!

Mark is right on:

Have a great day all!  Tonight’s results will be interesting…

As we all know, one of the basic underpinnings of the Left’s belief system is Darwin’s Theory of Evolution.  By this logic, over the eons all manner of plants and animals have come into existence, lived out their life cycle, and become extinct only to be replaced by other species of plants and animals.  This is a never- ending process.  Indeed, it is the natural order of things according to our friends on the Left.

I understand that not taking a bath (so I can avoid Katie Who) and not breathing the rarefied air of DC has surely affected my ability to think, so I ask my fellow posters to help me out.  May I ask you a few questions?

Tho we all want to be good stewards of the earth, what is the purpose of the endangered species lists?  If it is the natural order of things that species come and go, why expend so much effort and expense saving every endangered species we can identify?

Could it be that the Left’s leadership is using those lists to feed their lemmings some red meat, and at the same time, exert control over we bitterclingers?

Since they have all the answers to all the questions, has the Left’s leadership concluded that they are the culmination of all that evolving that has been going on?  Now that they are here to save the earth from we bitterclingers, will they have any further use for ole Charlie and his theory?

    • cookboy

As the earth was here first, it’s logical to assume that it was put here to sustain mankind. To assume mankind was put here to save the earth is to throw reason to the wind. And so I refuse to engage lunatics.

    Good Morning P4A!!

Yep that “Monumental Movie” looks good.  I will see it on the 27th with some other people.  In a perfect world I would love to see “M Movie”, “Hating Brietbart” and “Occupy Unmasked” all playing in the same Cinemas!!!!!

Even though “Monumental Movie” is probably more language friendly to Conservative Evangelicals.  (am one)   I find it deliciously WONDERFUL that the great and engaging Andrew B (Agnostic with Jewish Heritage)  in his “Explicit Trailer” for “Hating Brietbart”  (Blank you)  He supports three “Evangelicals”  Bachmmann, Palin and Alan (Jack Bauer) West!!!!

If it is the Lord’s will, lets pray that the “Minimum Mojo Mitt Movement Continues!!!

    Have a great Day everyone!!!!

    I’m so bored with politics.

Recently got a Kindle Fire with my healthcash which means it was FREE! I borrowed the book Sarah, How a Hockey Mom Turned the Political Establishment Upside Down. It was OK, but mainly things pulled from interviews and books I have read. But man it brought me back to those good old days when the Guv was still in office and we were keeping track of it all on C4P. I loved following all the in and outs of politics in Alaska.

Now, the Guv is so quiet for the most part and it is a yawn fest. What is it about Palin that makes everything more interesting? I really believe sitting watching paint dry with her in the room would be an edge of your seat kind of thing.

    • M_Minnesota

      Lipstick,

You are correct on the “Sarah, How a Hockey Mom…”   If you haven’t already, I HIGHLY recommend “The Faith and Values of Sarah Palin and what it means for America” by Stephen Mansfield”  They were given inside access to the Heath Family.  You can get it cheap at half.com or amazon .com for a few bucks from 1 to 5 to 7 dollars!!

Vid of Authors of the book.

      • Lipstick

Thanks for the tip. I am going to check that title out. I am loving my new Kindle & hope to read lots of interesting stuff on it!

I’m hopeful that some of you younguns here can explain something to this old man.  Why are open primaries considered good for democracy?

In Kentucky, our primaries are closed.  If you’re an R, you can vote for the Republican slate.  If you’re a D, you can vote for the Democrat slate.  If you’re an I, you can’t vote in the primary.  If you’re an I, you have given up the ability to help decide who will represent each party.  To me, that’s the way it should be.  Why should a D or I be able to help determine who the R candidate will be for the general election, or vice versa?

Kentucky is considered a strong red state, even though D registrations outnumber R registrations by 62%.  There have been only two R governors in the last seventy years, but when it comes to presidential elections and senatorial elections, the R’s usually prevail.  Go figure.

To me, open primaries open the door for monkey business.  Can anyone explain to me why this is a good thing?

    • Bean Counter

Our primaries are open as well, and like you, I don’t get it. The TN GOP had a chance to close the primaries last summer, but for some unexplained reason chose to leave them open. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

      • senator20526

…and the reason is that the demoncrates, who have Obama, can vote in the republican primary, selectiong the weakest candidate…

        • Bean Counter

But it was the republicans who chose not to close the primary, not the democrats.

          • Bill589

There is only one good explanation that I’ve found in my research.

The Republican party = The Stupid party.

Although, sometimes I think, ‘The Corrupt party’ and/or, ‘The Other Side of the Same Coin (as the Dems) party, also explains much of their behavior.

            SP2012

    • Firelight

I would love to give a brilliant explanation but… I got nuthin’ for ya.

Our primaries are closed and I also believe that is the way it should be. I am normally registered an I and I switched to R so I could vote. It isn’t that hard but you have to do it in advance. The deadline to switch parties for the primary vote was back in Oct.  Our caucus was in Feb.  I like the way we do it. It keeps last minute shenanigans at bay. Of course, there are plenty of shenanigans within the GOP itself but that is another story.

I don’t know why anyone thinks it is a good idea.

    • http://www.twitter.com/whitneypitcher Whitney Pitcher

We have open primaries here in Illinois too. I  know, surprise, surprise.Right now during a primary you just ask for a Democratic or Republican ballot. Our idiot governor wants to change that where people don’t have to ask, but they are given a ballot with both parties on the same ballot. Of course, something like that would potentially cause even more voter fraud than we already have.

I have similar issues with early voting. While of course people may know they’re going to be out-of-town or if there are soldiers who can’t vote because they are serving, there are reasons for absentee ballots. However, early voting just proves to be an opportunity for campaigns to take advantage of situations.

    • Lipstick

In Texas the primaries are open as well. You just tell them which you want to vote in.

I am not sure this is a reason. but until just recently, in my area, if you wanted any say in local elections, you had to vote in the Democratic primary. There were no Republicans running so the election was decided in the primary. I remember my parents always voting in the Democratic primary so they could choose our Sheriff, County Clerk, etc.

It never mattered in Presidential years because the nominee was always chosen before the primary got to Texas.

When I became of age, I, too, voted in the Democratic primary to be able to have a say in my local government. Things have changed and now there are many Republicans who run and even some long time Democrats have changed parties, but our primaries remain open.

      • OldPat

Lipstick, the situation you describe in Texas also applies to SC.  Actually, this traces back to the fact that before WWII the entire South was solidly Democratic

        • Lipstick

Indeed. Many of these people were really Republicans in their outlook, but knew you had to have that D by your name, really weird. I will say these were Blue Dog Dems, not the crazy liberal ones. Definately from Reconstruction after the war. Now it is kind of in to be a Republican in my area, unless you go into the big urban areas.

  • RefudiateGOPe

This morning, the media is reporting that a new government mandate requiring back-up cameras in vehicles will cost the auto makers $2.7 billion dollars.  They are lying.  The mandate will not “cost” the manufacturers anything.  It will cost consumers and if you look at how manufacturers determine selling price using “costs” as a baseline, I think the cost to the consumers will be about $4 billion or more.  In essence, the mandate will make more money for the manufacturers because profit is usually a percentage of cost.  Anyone thinking the manufacturers will eat the additional costs has a case of the stupids.

The media frames it as a “cost” to the auto makers instead of a “cost” to the consumers because they know people will think it’s OK because everyone knows that auto makers are the villains.  They frame it that way so that people don’t understand that the mandate is just another action by the government which costs the consumer hard-earned money.  A mandate amounts to a hidden tax.

The American people, as a whole are stupid.  The media continues to lie outright or misframe an issue and the people continue to lap it up as the gospel.  The bottom line is that mandates and taxes fall on the shoulders of consumers, not producers or distributors.  Some people are just too stupid to understand it, and as long as the media keeps lying about it, they never will.  The MSM is made up of liars, every damn one of them!

Wow! I just use my rear view mirror and turn my head and look back to….you know…..back up. Way cheaper. I wouldn’t buy a car I felt I could not see out the back well enough to, um, back up. I guess we are suppose to be so dumb that the government is suppose to save us from…backing up????

I am sure this is due to lawsuits and lawyers (my fav people to blame).
It reminds me of a story:

Years ago when hubby was over the Quality lab at the mill they bought some new stools for the guys to sit on while running tests. When they arrived and they were being put together there was a sheet with warnings on it. Real big on the sheet was one of those red circles with a line through it, meaning DON’T DO THIS. The picture in this DON’T circle was of a big V-8 engine block. Apparently someone had tried to use this stool to put their engine from their car on it and I am sure sued the crap out of someone when it failed.

I am a girl and even I know an engine is honkin’ heavy. What dumbarse tried to put it on a sitting stool?

Romney: “I will not light my hair on fire to get support.”

Great, Santorum just said he will not stick a shiv through his shin and Paul claimed he will not put an ice pic through his ear.

What is wrong with these people?

    • Exgunman

Sorry to hear that reg Paul…………………………

Romney: I will not light my hair on fire to get support.

Great, I can envision in the next debate, John King asking all the candidates: Now, Romney has pledged not to light his hair on fire, will all of you join him in making this pledge?

    Smart aleck responses:
I promise to not light Mitt Romney’s hair on fire.
Well, you have caught me off guard with that question!
I haven’t polled that issue yet, John, let me get back to you.

    • http://www.twitter.com/whitneypitcher Whitney Pitcher

I have a feeling the hair products Mitt uses are rather flammable.

      • Lipstick

Perhaps Mitt is going for the Big Hair vote in Texas. Big hair needs lots of product to keep it big, especially in the high humidity.

    Another good round Firelight.

-Congrats Stacy….Palin supporters are some of THE brightest, aren’t they?
-That Gov Brewer theory is hopeful at best, but hope’s all we got right now. *sigh*
-Thanks for that “constitution 101″ article Firelight….I’m bookmarking it for later use. ;)
-Say what you want about Newt, but I haven’t heard anything about our “apologist in chief” from the other candidates….Newt just keeps marking up points for me.
-I read the American Thinker article yesterday and you’re right….it’s very scary. Just one more reason that Obama has GOT to go.
-Firelight, I live in northern Illinois and I will never, ever again have a car without seat warmers OR an automatic starter. ♥

-Mark Levin is one of my favorite people in the whole world. With my two sons just home from deployment, he made me blubber. ♥

Finally, my feeling about Obama’s plan to slash military’s health care benefits. I’ve posted this at a couple of other sites with threads about this…

First, our brave troops must work under the present suicidal ROE, they
have a CIC that’s out of his mind and loathes the military, they have to deal
with working with NATO soldiers/officers who aren’t up to our standards…..and now this. You have to realize that you become a soldier not
for the pay. These are not wealthy men and women….just average blue
collar people. Some who even need food stamps/assistance to get by.
Did you know our troops no longer even get “hazard
pay?”….it’s true. They only get hazard pay if they were actually fired
    upon….yes, you read that right.
    Soldiers often take additional
deployments for the bonus pay…oooooo, a couple thousand dollars. Just how much is a young man’s/woman’s life worth anyways?
And just a forewarning…..I’m taking notes of all politicians that vote this into fruition.

Then, if that isn’t enough……this will make your eyes bleed….

“NATO officials promised to meet Afghan nation’s demand of bringing to justice, through an open trial, those responsible for the incident and it was agreed that the perpetrators of the crime be brought to justice as soon as possible….

Have I said yet today that I loath Obama?…..I think I’m going to be sick.

  • OldPat

RO 2012, I share your frustration with the American people,  Especially when I consider the list of stalwarts they have elected to lead our nation in recent years – 2 compassionate conservatives, 1 coward, and now 1 communist.

Ole Nikita (‘We will bury you without firing a shot.’) is undoubtedly laughing his head off right about now because we have allowed the PPC to mortgage our children’s future.

Many of our citizens have no idea what we have done to our children and grandchildren.  If we don’t win the election of 2012, in the not too distant future our debt will come due on our children’s heads.

The currency our children will be required to use to repay our debt will not be devalued dollars, it will be their blood as they fight to regain their freedom.

If our fellow citizens are merely ignorant rather than stupid, then WE the PEOPLE have a very slim chance to avert what I just described.  May God be with us as WE fight the War of the Ballot of 2012.

    • section9

There’s an old saying, I believe it’s from Scripture, “Without vision, the People perish.”

Right now there is a dearth of vision in this country grounded in Constitutional principle. Palin not being in this race (at least as of yet) and enunciating such principles creates a huge void that only she can fill. You can see it in the lack of GOP enthusiasm for this race.

No one will storm the barricades without a leader. That’s what Palin is for.

      • OldPat

Sadly, I agree.  That’s why I called our chance to avoid catastrophe very slim  I fear the American people haven’t yet hurt enough to embrace what they must do – the old chicken or the egg conundrum, in  effect.

But, one must also consider conservation and allocation of scarce resources.  In order to do that, could she have decided to take a chill pill and play a combination of Marion’s ‘hit and run’, ‘hide and seek’, and ‘Do you miss me yet?’?

Could she be playing puppeteer from Alaska and conserving her resources by turning a marathon into a sprint?

If any of this speculation is correct, It’s a longshot;  but, that ‘s all she had anyway.  Even the conservative wing of the GOP was never going to support her – especially after Indianola.

Morning all…..Pietro Leatherchest here…….a bone-chilling 67 degrees in the great desert Southwest this morning……breaking out the thermal underwear again…..Off to vote in a few minutes…we have the new electronic machines for voting that is supposed to cut down of voter fraud..you can vote at any station, it will verify you are eligilble to vote and that you have not voted at another station. This will stop all ” provisonal ” ballots that cause problems. I see Mittens is crying over Ricky calling him a snob in Michigan…what a loser……I heard from my niece yesterday, her husband finished out of the money in the Irondog, but we are proud of him for competing and finishing the 2000 miles. Okay…Happy Tuesday P4A Kids…

Trying to find some reason to care about Romney, Santorum, or Paul..and I just can’t…there is no there…there.  They all amount to the stuff I scrape from my boots as I am shoving cows through the shute for branding. Once you think you are clear of being kicked or crapped on and you look away for that one split second…here comes the runny crap or the back leg ready to kick you in the shin!  ENOUGH!

I listened to Mark Levin’s take on the Santorum throw up thingy over the Kennedy Church and State Speech…then I heard the Tammy Bruce take on it….it was a WTF moment.  I am going to have to stick with the Mark Levin take as history is on his side.  How Ironic that one who claims to be such a history buff can be a….shall we say so far off the mark about it’s origins and intentions? If you have not yet heard Levin…I encourage you to do so.  His full yesterday’s show can be heard as a “free” podcast at his site.

My dog(s) interview went well…My March is mostly booked…My April is mostly booked and I am now scheduling May and June.  HA!  I think I found a niche in a place I never dreamed of looking before. Who Knew?  I did learn to quit unpacking when I get home though..that helps!

With my disgust over Politics at the moment…I discovered a show called “Heartland”…it is a Canadian show that has been introduced in America.  My..My…My…if you have a need to get back to the family roots, western values, and love of basics…I encourage you to view this show. I told my family about it…now none of us can get enough.  It is on the internet as well as various cable channels…but it smacks of Life!

Okay..You all have a good rest of the day….

P.S….I am SO HAPPY that Kyle Busch crashed in the final laps at Daytona….JERK!  Is that Bad?

Honestly..the best place I found is on the Web…Some of the First Season is broken up into 5 part sections…but go to Alluc.com…TV Shows…then play them off Youtube! Here in the US..they are still bouncing back and forth between the first few seasons…but in Canada they are in the fifth season. I don’t normally get so hooked on shows..but this one is worth it!

        Showtime

        • hrh40

          Ahh, that’s why I can’t find it.

Basic cable itself is too expensive, so I don’t pay for any premiums.

I’m this close to cancelling cable altogether and just paying for Internet access. And buying the mlb.com pass for Red Sox baseball, which is the main reason I pay for cable anyway! :)
