We Still Got It Wednesday

Morning everyone!

The “we” is conservatives.  Specifically Gov. Palin and Ted Cruz. What a great day.  We now have a run off so the work is not done yet but woo hoo!!  Cruz is going to need more of our support and I love how Gov. Palin’s influence is on display.

I will admit that I am REALLY hoping that Gov. Palin does a large rally in Texas for Cruz.  I think it would really rally voters for him.

News roundup:

“Her role as the power behind the thousands (of) thrones, instead of sitting on one.”  I LOVE this statement.  Of course, I’m a Game of Thrones junkie so I dig this description of her.  The rest of the article is… blah…

Gov. Palin tweeted this video yesterday…  I think it helped!…

Um… NO!!!  That’s all, thank you…

Ya think?…

I’m sad that Peter Schweizer isn’t working for Gov. Palin anymore… I really like him and agree with his foreign policy viewpoint… (you’ll have to watch the video)

Nah… not buying it…

Yes, still time to help too…

This is still America right?…

What REALLY happened in that courtroom…

Young conservatives unite!!

It’s hump day… have a good one!!

    Good morning,

Looking at the Republican primary poll results as presented by the Texas Secretary of State we see that:

    – Dewhurst had a 17% point lead in early voting,

    – Between early voting and primary day, the momentum clearly shifted in favor of Cruz,

    – Dewhurst lead dropped to about 4.5% on primary day,

The result? We have a run-off with Cruz having the momentum, despite being hugely outspent by Dewhurst and his allied PACs. Congratulations to Mr Cruz and thank you Sarah Palin.

Of course, it’s not over. Dewhurst and his backers are formidable. Much work remains. So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.

In other news, the Donald has clearly decided to push a certain issue to the limit, no matter the level of discomfort it may cause the Romney campaign, blue-bloods within the GOP like George Will, the Obama campaign and the lame stream media.

Mr Trump is no one’s fool. Could he be impressed with the work done by a certain Cold Case Posse? Is he being abreast of ongoing developments? Is a certain Sheriff right? Will there be an October surprise?

Whatever the case, Mr. Trump believing that no issue should be off the table, and acting like he is scared of nothing, is not backing down.

Even Mark Levin, who has stiff-armed discussion of a certain issue, in response to an LA Times report has gotten involved, saying what the hey, where are the transcripts, while mocking Obama’s secrecy and the media.

Pass the popcorn. This should be fun to watch.

    Returning to the heavy lifting:

America’s Second Most Important Election Next Tuesday

People, we have our work cut out for us.

Oh yes, that famous Russian reset? Forget about it.

Okay, that’s it for now. Firelight, thanks for the news round up.

May the rest of everyone’s day be blessed.

Cruz did extremely well, although let’s be clear, Dewhurst almost won this thin outright.

It will be easier for Dewhurst to get over the top than it will be for Cruz to jump over 50, but we’ll see.

I would expect that Palin will go down there and hold a rally for Ted.

Votes cast on election day in the TX Senate race: (99.61% Reporting)

    Dewhurst:  300,855    41.47%
    Cruz:          276,540    38.12%

As you can see, Cruz did pretty well with those who voted on election day.  They were separated by just 3.35% of the election day voters.  Cruz lost most of his ground in early voting.  The momentum was moving in Cruz’s direction and there’s no reason to believe that he can’t overtake Dewhurst by July.  Not counting the votes from the other candidates in the primary (295,105), it will take flipping just 1.7% of the votes from Dewhurst to Cruz for Cruz to overtake Dewhurst.

Since Dewhurst got just 44.59% of the total votes, both early and on election day, he didn’t come close to winning it outright.  If Sarah spends some time in Texas and if Jim DeMint, FreedomWorks, and the Tea Party Express continue to push hard for Cruz, Dewhurst will lose and the loss could be significant, imo.

    • section9

Now THAT  is fantastic news. Cruz can easily make up that margin, given that Dewhurst dominated the write ins and the early-birds.

Make no mistake, Palin will have to do a bus campaign with Teddy. I don’t see an alternative. Texas is too big, and Dewhurst is going to pull out his other fist and go negative on Cruz during the runoff. The Cruz people would be smart if they could get Palin to shoot a commercial for them.

This is a huge opportunity for Palin to put a coonskin on the wall before Tampa.

      • RefudiateGOPe

We also need to keep hammering @GovMikeHuckabee and @ReaganWorld about supporting Dewhurst who has relied so heavily on the lies he has told about @TedCruz.  If enough people keep reminding them that they are supporting a proven liar, who knows, they may flip.

  • KatieSilverSpring

I am so happy but still nervous about the results in Texas.  I am also nervous about the TEA Party candidate in Virginia (who I don’t think Palin has endorsed but I may be behind the times).  I got slammed by a BigGovt reader/commenter for even saying Ratke makes me nervous.  But I have to be honest and we have to be honest also about Cruz.  I agree with Firelight, I hope Palin comes out guns blazing with a rally for Cruz before the runoff.

    [Revised cross-post from C4P]

I have pretty much been a Democrat all my life, though my first vote was for Reagan in 1980. Yesterday, for the first time in my life, I signed in as Republican here in Texas and voted for Cruz.  Reading this WSJ interview with him, I am pretty sure I did the right thing:

I especially liked the passage about the nexus between big business, big government, and unwarranted government interference in the market:

“One of the biggest lies in politics is the lie that Republicans are the party of big business. Big business does great with big government…. I don’t have anything against big business– if they make a better mousetrap great, let them compete in the marketplace….

“Often you see big companies, big banks who are eager to embrace crushing regulatory burdens because they drive up everyone’s costs. The big business can hire armies of lawyers and accountants, and they can deal with the cost, whereas the smaller competitors are driven out of business…The giant banks, the ones that are too big to fail? They’re doing fine with Dodd-Frank. It’s the small community banks that are getting crushed. And that wasn’t accidental.”

To me, this is a distillation and re-statement of the September 2011 Iowa speech.

In an interesting, and, for me, related development, from RealClearPolitics on an ex-Alabama Democrat thinking about running as a Republican in Virginia (Artur Davis):

Like Davis, and in the interest of full disclosure, I have thought of myself for many years as a Clinton Democrat. I always liked Jim Webb of Virginia too (Democrat, US Senate).  So I probably disagree with many of you all on some things.  Having said that, it was Governor Palin’s proven ability to work across party lines to achieve major legislative objectives without sacrificing principle to expediency that most impressed me about her (that and having the guts to take on the GOP party machine in Alaska, which, come to think on it, is part and parcel of the same thing).

I guess what I am trying to say is that bi-partisanship doesn’t mean “cutting the baby in half” (I borrowed that allusion from the Cruz interview), but it does mean agreeing on certain important things, then carrying through to make those things happen.  Put another way, I think we are going through a long-term political and economic realignment.  Neither the ship of state nor the economy will turn on a dime, but it will never start turning unless persistent and consistent force is applied to its inertia. Watching her actions these past years, I think Governor Palin understands that real reform will be a long, hard slog, and not so much bi-partisan as non-partisan, and that these issues have to be approached with both strong principles (strong vision of the goal) and an open mind (flexibility on tactics and the common sense to yield on issues not on the critical path).

Long post, I know, but just something I wanted to get off my chest.  Sorry!  Back to work!

    Happy Miser

      Welcome Happy Miser!

We don’t all agree here on many things but we all support Sarah and are basically conservative in our views. Some are more Republican, some more social, some have libertarian streaks but we love Reagan, we love our country and we love Sarah.

You will fit right in :)

Thanks!  By the way I’ve posted before — “Happy_Miser” — I changed my Disqus account.

It was reading real good there Happy Miser not long enough.

“…One of the biggest lies in politics is the lie that Republicans are the

I must remember to spring that one on my liberal friend and I will be using it where need be.

Thanks for the post Happy Miser.

I thought it was hilarious yesterday the way that media goon at Polutico tried to trick you into “settling down.” Isn’t that what they’re always trying to do to you? When will they ever learn?

You’ve taught us to NEVER settle for less than the very best! We’re with you, Sarah, all the way to Tampa and beyond!

Down with crony capitalism in both parties!

Down with racism in both parties!

Down with all the GOP eunuchs who failed to defend Sarah Palin in 2008!

Down with the crooked Establishment, in every neighborhood, in every state of the union!

You should read the books.  They are even better with more twists, turns and complexities.  I too look forward to Sunday nights!!!

Apologies if this has been posted.
Hell has frozen over MSNBC and Politico run a news interview video which gushes over Palin’s performance post Cruz and admit she is a significant player. No snark, negatives and finally (since she is not the candidate) the blatantly obvious can be admitted.

      Muchas Gracias Mr. Sheppard

Afternoon all……..A bright sunny 100 degrees in the great desert Southwest today…With Leatherchest firmly in the cellar, I apologize for any disruptions caused by him yesterday…Congrats to Ted Cruz and all the volunteers in Texas…now the hard work begins…Where is Sarah and what is she doing? Anybody have a guess what going on?…..I guess Obama lost the Polish  vote yesterday…His advisers and speechwriters should have taken history in college instead of community organizing or maybe they don’t teach history any more.Too bad, so sad…..Can you imagine the LSM if Sarah had said “Polish death camps”?…but, Obama gets a pass because he is so smart….really? Looks like old Hugo Chavez is getting ready for his dirt nap…sometime soon..but, being a true socialist/demoncrat, he is running for re-election….Well, I hear Leatherchest yelling for food, so off I go…..have a great day.

  • MJosephSheppard

Here is a major report from Texas TV with an interview with Ted Cruz who brilliantly defends Palin’s endorsement. Cruz stands head an shoulders above Dewhurst imo.

    • Akabosan

      Thanks for the link.

As I said on your blog, “How do those of us out here in the sticks get access to those 5 (or 9) debates?”  Will the Texas Chamber of Commerce use them to promote how conservative Texas is by providing some live streaming?

      Folks need to know.

      • MJosephSheppard

My advice would be to check,or better yet subscribe to Ted Cruz’s homepage-he will be sure to indicate debate schedules and you could also send in a question to the moderator etc. trust this helps. His site is
