It’s Thursday

Morning all!

I’m keeping it short today. I was up waaayyyy too late last night and there seems to be a lull before the excitement tomorrow at RightOnline.  So, I will take the time to just report the news.

I see that Lipstick is back on the board.  How was your vacation Lip?  We would love to hear your Colorado experience!

Prayers for Bestbud and Cru’s mom.

Headlines:

Gov. Palin tweeted prayers for Robin and a link to Bristol’s blog…

If I was Michelle… I would want to know just who the hell I was married to…

Good… now just keep saying it until it happens

Bye, bye

Meh

Thank you… it doesn’t make up for your endorsement but I do appreciate it…

Oh please… they will be back before the general election…

It’s was a quiet news day yesterday… let’s enjoy today.  There is an NBA game tonight that should be exciting!

http://spectator.org/archives/2012/06/13/running-mate-revelation/ – Quinn Hillyer at American Spectator on June 13th had this to say about selection of a running mate for Romney. The end of a series he has been researching and writing.

    ———————————-

Another loss in North Dakota reported: “These nicknames include: Aggies, Aztec, Braves, Cavaliers, Colonials, Cornhuskers, Cowboys, Crusaders, Diplomats, Dons, Dutch, Dutchmen, Flying Dutchmen, Engineers, Fightin’ Engineers, Fighting Irish, 49ers, Friars, Gaels, Gauchos, Generals, Highlanders, Indians, Jaspers, Knights, Leathernecks, Lumberjacks, Miners, Missionaries, Monks, Muleriders, Norse, Ole Miss Rebels, Oilers, Orediggers, Paladins, Pilgrims, Pioneers, Poets, Quakers, Ragin’ Cajuns, Railsplitters, Rebels, Redmen, Rivermen, Saints, Savages, Saxons, Scots, Fighting Scots, Sooners, Spartans, Texans, Tribe, Trojans, Vikings, Warriors and Yeomen.

UPDATE (6/13/12): CNS News reports that North Dakota voters on Tuesday approved scrapping the University of Dakota’s “Fighting Sioux” nickname.”

    http://spectator.org/archives/2012/06/12/the-ncaa-political-correctness

Be ready for the fencing team at some California school to be named the “Gay Blades” or a New York waterfront town to have the “Fighting Ferries.” Iowa has a Sioux City, so maybe their curling team will become the “Sioux City Swishers.”

“Luckily the ‘Fightin’ Whities are going strong…” I love it.

I am happy to report that Richland (WA) High School, alma mater of Sally Heath and ManaJordan, is still known as “The Bombers”, after their role in WW II.

By the way, as I have mentioned to people, Sally Heath’s high school friend was Sharon Tate who was murdered by The Manson Family, whose death was the honored by Bill Ayres who is a friend of Mr. Obama

    Good Thursday Morning P4A Kids…

It’s a good day!  Mom gets out of the Hospital!  It can’t come soon enough. When I left last night I got on the elevator with a gruf (biker chic) type..and she was as mad as I was the other day for the same reason. She said she was going to “punch someone….ANYONE!” So see it just ain’t me! :)   The lady in the next room to my Mom is on quarantine. It’s a surgical ward not a “sick ward.” They have to gown up in full body armor before anyone gets in the room.  I have my ideas as to why…but I know she did not contract what she has now until AFTER she went into the hospital!  I came home last night and took a shower!  EGADS!  Thanks for all the prayers!

WOW…the smoke is thick this morning.  Bad news from the Fire in Northern CO.  The fire has reached beatle killl trees which means it won’t be stopped for a long while and with burn faster and hotter.  Prayers for all those in the path and fighting it.  Colorado Springs is one big smoke stream and we are about 2 1/2 hours south.  They predict this fire will take a month or more to stop. I hope they are wrong.

Just a few history notes: On this day!!!

1775 – The Continental Army was founded by the Second Continental Congress for purposes of common defense. This event is considered to be the birth of the United States Army. On June 15, George Washington was appointed commander-in-chief.

1777 – The Continental Congress in Philadelphia adopted the “Stars and Stripes” as the national flag of the United States. The Flag Resolution stated “Resolved: that the flag of the United States be made of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new Constellation.”

1789 – Captain William Bligh of the HMS Bounty arrived in Timor in a small boat.

1846 – A group of U.S. settlers in Sonoma proclaimed the Republic of California.

1893 – Philadelphia observed the first Flag Day.

    1900 – Hawaii became a U.S. territory.

1907 – Women in Norway won the right to vote.

1919 – The first non-stop trans-Atlantic flight began. Captain John Alcot and Lt. Arthur Brown flew from Newfoundland to Ireland.

1922 – Warren G. Harding became the first U.S. president to be heard on radio. The event was the dedication of the Francis Scott Key memorial at Fort McHenry.

1940 – The Nazis opened their concentration camp at Auschwitz in German-occupied Poland.

1940 – German troops entered Paris. As Paris became occupied loud speakers announced the implementation of a curfew being imposed for 8 p.m.

1943 – The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that schoolchildren could not be made to salute the U.S. flag if doing so conflicted with their religious beliefs.

1944 – Sixty U.S. B-29 Superfortress’ attacked an iron and steel works factory on Honshu Island. It was the first U.S. raid against mainland Japan.

1952 – The Nautilus was dedicated. It was the first nuclear powered submarine.

1954 – U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed an order adding the words “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance.

1989 – Former U.S. President Reagan received an honorary knighthood from Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

You all have a good day!  Safe Travels Firelgiht!

hospitals are going to get worse.
      it is a complex situation.
It is not simply “the government.”
The biggest problem is administrators who are usually not too bright and have too much power.

      Fantastic personal news.

      And great historic roundup.

The Nautilus is a free museum a hop, skip, and a jump from where I live. Anyone want to see it, give me a buzz.

My grandfather was in the Navy at the time and piloted one of the tug boats that towed the Nautilus up the river to Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean. He was an eyewitness to the first-ever declaration:

After Bristol wins she should sue him for slander and verbal abuse.

    • hrh40

Hey, so far the comments are against the heckler! It’s a start ….

    • Firelight

The jackass should know that when the production company won’t settle or pull the clip it is because they are damn sure they are in the right.  This guy must be terrified for the real “him” to be revealed.

His complaint is a joke. At the time, Bristol owned investment property in AZ and it would make perfect sense to snatch up a house across the lake from her parents so that she could own something in AK too.  That proves nothing.  All of America is going to see him bully her in a very public place.  These were not hidden cameras, the bar gave the production crew permission, I guarantee that.  This guy has nothing.

This is excellent free advertising for Bristol’s show. Now everyone is going to be curious to see just what happened in that bar.

      I’m grabbing the popcorn!!

      • Bean Counter

Exactly. This ain’t their first legal rodeo. Plus, the idiot apologized after the first firestorm hit. It’s long past time that this BS legal crap against the Palins gets the scorn it deserves. I hope the idiot has to pay a sh*tload of legal fees.

        • Firelight

Exactly, the jackass got caught being a vile jerk and his assumption (like all liberals) is that the majority of Americans would be on his side cheering him on.  Boy did he find out really fast that this myth the liberals have constructed that Palin is polarizing and viewed unfavorably by most is nothing more than that, a myth and a fantasy.

He knows the blowback he got from the tiny clip that made its way around the world, now he shudders at what will happen when the full truth comes out.  He will need to change his name. I think this lawsuit is mostly trying to suppress the release of the full clip and by filing it in Federal court he is hoping the Obama administration will help him.

The jerk is a scared chicken and is going to get his due. The full glory of the liberal demented mind is going to be on display and I will enjoy every second of it.

      • section9

No, but in Hollywood, he has to figure that he can parlay the complaint into representation by Gloria Allred and a spot on the next Survivor. The ONLY reason this lawsuit is happening is that Asstard retained an attorney, who told him to retain an agent, who wants to maximize his 15 minutes of fame against the Homophobic Bit*h Bristol. This will lead to a guest spot on someone’s TV show and, in all likelihood, more billable hours for the attorney and a decent check for the agent.

That’s all this is about. Bristol was a means to an end.

    • Firelight

      Hey girl!!!

    • hrh40

      Bonjour.

  • blackbird

    Good morning everyone.

    YOU’RE STUCK WITH ME

Even though her toddler was throwing a furious tantrum, (or, as my southern American friends might say, pitching a fit) from the seat of a grocery cart, one mother was unfazed. “You may as well give up on the crying,” she said as calmly as if she were soothing her to bed instead of leading her out of the store. “It won’t work. You’re stuck with me for 18 years.”

That little child may not know how lucky she is to be stuck with her for 18 years. Even when she’s cranky, out of sorts or otherwise going through a phase, her mother will be there. She’s stuck with her. Most relationships that truly matter are built on that kind of sticking-power. And not everyone has someone they can always count on to stick around.

A university instructor posed a riddle to her graduate education class. “What has four legs and leaves?” she asked, hoping the students would realize that by considering alternative meanings to the words “legs” and “leaves” that they could arrive at the solution – a table. However, one woman unexpectedly answered, “My last two boyfriends.” Maybe you can relate.

People will leave relationships for any number of reasons. And sometimes we should put certain relationships behind. Not every friendship or romance has a healthy future. Sometimes we bring along so many destructive problems and behaviors that a happy relationship has no chance of long-term survival. Sometimes addictions make staying in a relationship impossible. Sometimes leaving is necessary.

But there’s also a time to stick around. Something all relationships of many years have in common is this: every one of them is made up of people who have had plenty of opportunities to bolt or quit, to move out or to move on, but they stuck around. Maybe because they knew that the people they love are not always “lovable” or easy to be with, and that’s okay. They want a relationship that matters, one that is important and lasting, and that kind is nurtured by patience and understanding.

Author John Gray sometimes tells about a young mother who asked her visiting brother to get her some pain pills. He forgot and, when her husband returned home, she was upset and in pain – more than a bit crazy. He experienced her anger as a personal assault and exploded in defense. They exchanged harsh words and he headed for the door.

His wife said, “Stop, don’t leave. This is when I need you the most! I’m in pain. I’ve had no sleep. Please listen. You are a fair-weather friend. If I’m sweet, you’re okay; but if I’m not, out you go!” And then tearfully, and more subdued, she said, “I’m in pain. I have nothing to give. Please hold me. Don’t speak…just hold me.” He held her and neither spoke – until she thanked him for being there.

I suspect there will be plenty of other times their relationship will be tested. And I also suspect that every time it goes through a rough patch and survives some sort of adversity, every time they decide that being together is important enough to stick it out and fix what’s wrong, then it will change. Maybe not much, but a little. And in time, little by little, that relationship, their “togetherness,” will become a thing of beauty; a pearl of great value.

And definitely worth sticking around for.

Glad to hear that Mom is home. She, and all of you, will rest much better. Thank God for hospitals, but it’s amazing how exhausting they are for patients and families — particularly ICU’s and CCU’s — they’re the noisiest places I’ve ever seen.

This is an excellent article by a man who could just as well have pulled a John Galt on the world by now, but keeps hanging in there…  His reportage of Watergate makes the “Woodstein” story look like a real sophomoric job.  Hopefully history will tell the truth, the whole truth so help us.  Mr. Nixon, after all, set up the triangulation of the two communist super powers, China and Russia with our country as the fulcrum.
