Moms & Single Women with Guns Friday

Good Morning

Although it may not seem like it, I take time on my posts reading, editing and making sure what I type reads like what I want to say. Today, however, I am going to type and just go with it…..

My Dad was not a hunter. I have only sisters and they never cared to hunt, yet as I have written before, we always had guns in our home growing up. All my friends homes had guns, some of them were hunters, others not. I remember seeing these in almost all the pick-up trucks around where I grew up. Most everyone had them, no big deal, just the way it was.

Hubby doesn’t hunt and the boy has no interest in it either. Let me say I would never turn down venison, but I just don’t care to hunt.

I have always had at least one firearm as an adult for protection. I am not a gun collector, or spend much time at the range. I am just like millions of Americans in flyover country who own a few firearms and some ammo for protection and like it that way.

The recent push to limit my Second Amendment rights in any way just pisses me off. Pisses me off in a bad way. I usually get aggravated, but I am actually pissed.

These liberal doofus clowns in DC have no idea what they are about to stir up. Not only are the gun enthusiasts who have all kinds of different firearms, shoot tons of lead at the range and can ramble off firearm facts like I can spout running shoe information upset, but people like me who really don’t think about guns much….until I am alone at night with my child and hear a noise, or see something suspicious in the neighborhood or someone starts yapping about banning guns they see fit to ban.

Yep, they have been living in their little uppity bubble with armed security for far to long and have forgotten about people like me. I like having my firearms, I like not being in a federal data bank for possessing an item that is legal and protected under my Second Amendment rights. I like it that way, I get pissed when someone tries to change that, any of that.

I’m not stupid. My bachelors may be from a state school, but I’m a pretty quick thinker. I know the slippery slope you are on. You have already slid down it a bit since the 1994 Weapons Ban. Now you are adding things like a detachable magazine and one military style feature, one of which is a pistol grip. You know how many weapons have that? You know you can add that to most shotguns and rifles? Magazines over 10 rounds? Know how many simple 9mm pistols have that?

I know all the many little things you have in your bill that can label a gun “banned”. They are weapons I and millions of others may or may not already own to protect myself and my child. You think I’m okay giving up my Second Amendments rights when you tell lie to me and say firearms we already own will be grandfathered and we only have to be in a data base to retain them?

Silly you. I know that list is for the next phase you plan to try to make law after the next (and sadly there will be one) mass killing. Confiscation. Of course you do, but you think me and millions like me who are not gun aficionados will be sleeping while this is going on.

Oh, honey, you are so mistaken. We are all up in your woodwork, and we’re about to come out.

That’s what the nation is afraid of….I feel safer already.

And so it begins. You have no idea what you have awakened in middle America when you start taking my pistol and long gun, lady.

She wants my shotgun too?

First of all, I’m firing through my purse, not taking time to pull it out. Second, 10 rounds for each of the 5 security guys you have may seem like enough, but I am limited to just what I can carry in one firearm.

I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me says..You go Girl!….then the thinker in me starts to think of many negatives. My biggest concern is the areas our armed conflicts occur now are Muslim. I imagine it would be quite horrific for a woman to be taken prisoner in these areas. I believe 100% of these captured American female soldiers would be raped plus many other vulgar actions enacted upon them. Also, I believe doing so in front of captured American male soldiers can be used as a way to get vital information from either soldier.

Only because he knows Dems will not forever be the majority party.

Me thinks he can smell 2016.

Thank goodness its the weekend. I can scan my house for the goobs of assault weapons it holds.

But hey, let’s keep making ultra violent movies that make shooting and killing with big guns seem super cool to some weirdo shut up in his basement and off his meds.

He attained the rank of sergeant, he was a soldier. Surely there is an area they can bury him in?

    Sarah Palin 2016 . I know she’ll run .

  • Michael

I hope Sarah Palin leaves FoxNews . FoxNews betrayed and all of us Conservatives. They hire Dennis Kucinich and renew Karl Rove . I hope Sarah Palin leaves FoxNews because FoxNews only preaches to the choir and hasn’t penetrated the mainstream media’s walls since 2010.

  • Michael

Bobby Jindal is a dope. A seemingly brilliant man that says good things at times and then other times he is clueless.  I hope Sarah Palin runs in 2016. I know she will .

    • c4pfan

I agree there.  Can’t he come up with new material and I really don’t get these dumb meetings they always do.

    • Whitney Pitcher

Bobby Jindal is a smart guy and has been a pretty good governor. That said, he’d make a good cabinet secretary. I don’t see him as a president.

  • c4pfan

I don’t have a gun, used a gun or even seen one upclose & I even know it’s a right to carry them!

    • Gelston

all you gotta know is that their nickname is “an equalizer”

  • c4pfan

Did any of you see the article Sarah posted a link to about the military?

Don’t forget today is the March for Life! Their twitter handle is march_for_life.

  • susiepuma

I’m going on the record right now – I will only be voting for Governor Sarah Palin for President in 2016 – none of the GOPE enunchs need apply …. and for anyone supporting any of those phony RINOS – serving notice now that none of your crying, whining, pleading, threats, etc.  will make me change my mind….not again.

I’m not a Repub nor a Dem – I am an Independent and there is no one – and I mean, no one – who can make me change my mind.  Governor Palin is, was, and will be MY candidate.

  • blackbird

“We are all up in your woodwork” lol

In my worthless opinion, only as a very last resort would I put women in infantry on the front lines.

“Surely there is an area they can bury him in?” I complete agree

  • Firelight

Woohoo! Lipstick is on fire!  I do believe when you go out for your run there will be sparks flying from your shoes, LOL!   Heaven help the person who tries to take your firearms!

I’ve been watching the news this morning and it is clear that none of them have actually read Feinstein’s bill.  They have no idea how wide sweeping this ban would be.  Of course, the liberals know if they ask for the moon that they will likely get 1/2 of what they ask for in a compromise.  The GOP has never figured that out.  This is infuriating…

  • deTocqueville1

    Very well stated Lipstick.

    Here’s a pretty powerful argument:

  • BostonBruin

    Good morning!

“She thinks her way through problems to arrive at dynamic answers, using the same kind of unconventional methodology Dad used in his classroom.”

Chuck Jr., “Our Sarah”, pg. 132
Boy, I really think that the massive push for gun control by the President, Sen. Feinstein and their cohorts could really backfire (pun intended). Not only are they hitting a major nerve with the majority of the American people (as Bill Clinton is warning), they are totally turning their backs on more serious problems like unemployment, poverty, etc.

Even if Sen. Feinstein’s bill goes nowhere, it gives GOP candidates running next November major ammunition (pun intended) to use against their Democrat opponents. There are a bunch of Senate Democrats up for re-election next year in states that were won handily by Mitt Romney – including Sen. Begich.
The RNC vote for chairman is today. We’ll see if Reince Preibus is re-elected or not. He is being challenged by Libertarian Mark Willis.

    • blackbird

after an election that was the GOP’s to loose why would they reelect Preibus.

      • BostonBruin

        Reince Priebus was re-elected today.

        • blackbird

Thanks for the update BB, so the Ron Paul folks came through. These positions have nothing to do with performance.

  • Whitney Pitcher

Good morning all! It’s been quite a busy week personally, and of course, it’s always a busy week politically. I appreciate your thoughts on this, Lipstick. I’ve never shot a gun in my life, yet I can’t stand the thought of these elitist, hypocritical politicians usurping the constitution.  Pretty soon they’ll try to pass legislation requiring a background check for us to exercise our 1st amendment rights too (and I’m only halfway joking).

The news today is that Saxby Chambliss is retiring from the Senate. I’d love to see Karen Handel run to replace him. Of all the candidates that Palin has endorsed, Handel’s been one of my favorites, even though she didn’t win her gubernatorial primary in 2010. She seems to be cut from the same cloth as Palin in many ways.

    • Firelight

I’m with you Whitney!  I would LOVE to see Handel run for Chambliss’ seat.  From Twitter I get the impression that there is a growing call for both Handel and Herman Cain.  I’m not against Cain either but I strongly prefer Karen and I hope that she is the one that the people of Georgia prefer as well.

      • section9

Palin has always been friendly to both, but I get the sense that Handel is a steadier personality and would make a better Fall candidate than the Herminator. I will bet you that SarahPAC shares my opinion, but I can’t say for sure.

Gen. Dempsey: If Women Can’t Meet Military Standard, Pentagon Will Ask ‘Does It Really Have to Be That High?’

And it begins, lower the standards so women can “participate”…..why do I feel like our soldiers are in greater danger?

  • indemind

Thanks Speedchic aka Lipstick … for a Awesome news round-up…

You know something is WRONG when THEY want a background check, on you owning a weapon… A constitutional rights (2nd amendment) … and Obama doesn’t want us to know his College grades.

P.S. Lipstick, great set of (his and her) matching shotguns.

SarahAmerica- “Our freedoms are being compromised, our common sense insulted, and our children exploited.”

  • blackbird

This is too funny – Finally, a civilian need for a military tank. Alert Piers Morgan! the thing that had me is he actually hit the target.

    • Firelight

      LOL, that is funny!

      • blackbird

the guy in the tank reminds me of John Stossel.

     Whitney Pitcher

Woohoo! Congrats! “@EmilyBaxterUSA: This girl got the internship! She is going to DC for the summer! WOOT! #sohappy”

    Emily Baxter

@whitneypitcher Thanks :) Changing the world one senator at a time.

    Awesome Emily Congrats…. *_*

    • blackbird

That is Awesome!!! way to go Emily.

      This is BIG NEWS!!!!

      You go, baby girl!!!

Congratulations and thanks, Emily, for being willing to serve.

I have not heard this music in a long while, still fresh, great music, great band – Creedence Clearwater Revival: Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

  • section9

    Crossposted at C4P:
Life goes on, so does Sarah Palin.
The GOP’s message is muddled enough, and the Republican Establishment incompetent enough, for the way to be open for a messenger with a clarion call to carry Reagan’s message forward. His message, given to the CPAC Convention in 1975, was for a “New 2nd Party”, one of “bold colors, not pale pastels”.
That’s what we’ve lost. That’s the ringing message that the nation looks for: authenticity and truth. We lack that in our politics right now.
A whole boatload of people in the Reagan Wing of the Party were disappointed that Palin did not run because of her authenticity as a human being and her reputation as a straight shooter. She surveyed the territory, sized up a deeply incompetent and compromised GOP, and probably made the right call for her and her family. From there, the GOP went forward to its Viking Funeral, as I told you it would a year and a half ago.
So now is the time for something old and something new. Time-tested principles and good wisdom, the rock of truth that Reagan enunciated to the country, translated to the 21st Century. Freedom and Liberty never truly go out of style, but old Ronnie was right, they need to be carried forward. They can be extinguished if we let them so be.
People, the common run of voters, especially the young and people in minority groups, need to be reached out to and told the first principles and why they are valuable and true. This isn’t about beating up on Obama so much, that will come with time. This is about people in the Liberty Movement, especially Sarah Palin, because she is the best of the lot, getting out there on the college campuses and in the cities where the liberals think they are safe, and taking Reagan’s message to the Heathen.
Obama will fail over time. How do I know this? Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union failed. It’s what he believes in, although he might not make the historical connection, the systems that ran the Eastern Bloc into the ground and his way of thinking run along the same continuum. Higher taxes and more regulation will not save what he believes to be true if it runs against the grain of human nature, simply because there is too much avarice in the nature of man to make Socialism work. I would throw in the fact that California, New York, and Illinois are failing states but we all know this; they are the harbingers of what is to come for the Ruling Party. Palin’s task is larger than simply just beating up on the guy who’s ego has gotten the better of his good sense.
I believe that Palin’s great task this year is to argue the case of economic and political liberty at home, especially political liberty. People would be surprised here at how many liberals are comfortable with a one-party system as long as they are the One Party running the System. I know the press is. Please don’t get lost in the weeds of wonkery and policy minutiae. That’s a fools errand that is a trap laid by liberals for conservatives.
If I were to be so bold as to offer Sarah Palin a bit of advice going forward it would be this: point out the great flaws, incompetence, and corruption of the present Regime. But always follow it up with an argument for the great principles of liberty, the great policies that should be pursued by conservatives (as opposed to Republicans, mind you) to achieve these principles, and do so with that winning smile and positive attitude that has won her the heart of the rank and file of the GOP and an accepting ear of most of the country.
After all, it was Sarah Palin who maintained that a ship looks good in a safe harbor, but that is not what ships are built for.

#9… This Post Is One Of Your Best!… *_*

SarahAmerica- “May you pick your battles wisely. And may you live life vibrantly!”

Great post section. I believe she will be articulating the principles you reference and translating them into policy prescriptions. It is very exhilarating.

“It’s my understanding that Gov. Palin was offered a contract by FOX, and she decided not to renew the arrangement,” the source close to Palin told RCP. “She remains focused on broadening her message of common-sense conservatism across the country and will be expanding her voice in the national discussion.”

Yes, this is good news. Time for her to branch out!! Game on!

  • panchita

Breaking news!!!!!!! Traffic backed up for miles in the grand strand. From early reports it appears a chihuaua is blocking the intersection at 544 and the Bypass.  Sources close to the scene can clearly hear the chihuahua screaming “She’s free, she’s free. Fox has unshackled Sarah!!!
A swat team was on the scene for a possible bomb scare, but it turned out to be a pitcher of mojitos.

Our reporter just arrived and tells me that the chihuahua is demanding to be put on the roof of the police car. “if it was good enough for Seamus, its good enough for me”

    back to you chuck…..

  • section9

Now Sarah Palin is a free agent.

I’m sure she had enough betrayal for a lifetime. Good for her. Some have had concerns about Palin not being able to get her voice out without FNC. I think Palin is ahead of the game and sees FOX losing its mojo with the Right. I also believe that she will be able to get her opinion out where it counts.

Good for you, Palin! Onward and upward!

  • Pete Petretich

Isn’t it funny how Sarah’s little news item completely overshadowed Romney’s D.C. luncheon?
