Feeling Like A Hippie Thursday

I really hate politics right now. It seems like I say this every week, lol. Things just seem to keep getting worse. Who would’ve ever thought the anti-war Left would now be all about going to war in Syria *just* to have Obama’s back, just to protect his so-called credibility. It’s insane. Oh and for the record, not wanting to run off to war does NOT make someone an isolationist. Keeping things short today & I guess for now I’ll keep feeling like an anti-war hippie. :-)

This is a good starting point. Governor Palin’s 5 Requirements for Military Action

Red lines.

Word of the attack reached Washington, D.C. within 30 minutes.

Speaking of Benghazi

11/21/2007 “Well, I truly believe that the day I’m inaugurated, not only does the country look at itself differently but the world looks at America differently.” Oh yeah?

Perhaps it’s time for Mr. Ryan to find a new job. Eight terms y’all. Eight. Terms.

On a much much much happier note…Happy NFL Kickoff day!

I have been where you are at since after 2008. I have had it with the GOP for so long.

    • deTocqueville1

      Yes, an alternative is required.

  • LS as guest

    Feeling a dollar short too?

  • Firelight

I completely agree on several points! Not wanting to go to war is NOT the same as isolationism and politics SUCK!!

I really can’t put in words just how much I do not think we should get involved in Syria. I think Rush is right. I think the MB is goading/baiting us to go to war by framing Assad with the chemical weapons blame. I think both sides have chemical weapons but I think the MB is the one who used them first. They want us to attack Assad in hopes that Assad attacks Israel. Attacking Israel has been their main goal all along. I do NOT like this at all and can’t believe a single GOP Senator or Congressman would fall for this crap.

    Oh and Go Broncos!!

Firelight – could you shed some light on the recall election next week in Colorado. Is the recall vote simply a yes/no question as to whether the two state senators should be recalled? Or are they running against Republican candidates? Thanks.

    • senator20526

I believe in what Gov. Palin so plainly said about “Let Allah sort it out” We have no business starting a war with Syria…So let us be isolationist with all the other countries in the world that do not support a war against Syria.

    • RedBrightandTrue

I did not know you way back when the Gov made that speech. The fellowship is especially needed at times like this when the news & politics are so depressing.

Ain’t it funny how one hockey mom from Alaska has brought so many of us together? 😉

Obama always knew he could count on the party loyalty of the Democrats to carry him across the goal line, but the stupidity of the GOP Establishment knows no bounds.

It is good, very, very good that Palin made her post, in writing, that basically came out against intervention last Friday. It would be better if she came out more forthrightly against this prospective conflict in a speech or a video to rally the antiwar libertarian and conservative right against this thing. There is no upside to the nation intervening in this conflict just to play into the varied schemes of Bandar and Putin.

    More like this, please, Governor!

Mornin’ comrades. I’ve honestly tried, as much as I can before my brain explodes, to come to a semi-educated opinion re: the Syria mess, and I simply see no valid reason for us to engage, nor any benefit to us if we do, and the potential consequences are too grave. I wasn’t thrilled with the Bush conflicts either, but at least there was a valid rationale for engaging — 9/11. I’ve notified my rep/senators of my opposition to the resolution, I’m sure to no avail, but this whole thing is already a disaster before any action is taken. Obama is playing this like a game of charades and making it up as he goes along. He’s already destroyed any goodwill the US had in the world. At least I’m enjoying watching so many libs freak out being horrified that Obama is doing this, and at the same time trying to rationalize supporting him. That’s amusing.

Thank God football is back and the NFL cranks it up tonight. The Titans are going to suck swamp water, so again, I’m very thankful for the NFL RedZone channel, which is worth whatever it is those criminals at Comcast charge me for it.

Y’all have fun and don’t step on any red lines. Sigh, what a joke….

    • deTocqueville1

Great post. Agree that at least Bush had a policy framework for going into Iraq even if rather an idealistically rose colored glasses one. It became painfully obvious though as you imply that nation building with different cultures and no long standing civil society doesn’t work, just ask the British (sorry the ones with the realistic answers are mostly dead).

    • indemind

Buon giorno la mia bella Bean Contatore…. *_*
good morning my beautiful Bean Counter

    • Firelight

Oh Bean the NFL Redzone is a very popular channel in our house! I love that thing!

    • senator20526

Bean…My worst fear is a TommyHawk missile hitting a stored stock pile of those chemical weapons and wiping out an entire city…Then the old proverbial “shizz will hit the fan”.

  • deTocqueville1

Thanks RBT, yes it should be a great game tonight! Palin’s Plan for military deployment is cogent, clear and practical. It is obviously the result of study and examination of historical examples. Jeffrey Lord with his beautiful writing style covered Reagan’s 4 Rules of engagement in the American Spectator the other day: The late President learned them the hard way. Palin’s in my view echo them with the greater clarity and specificity that historical observation brings.

In contrast 0 and Herman Munster prevaricate and dissemble causing alarm among allies and contempt, bitterness and hatred among friends and foes alike. The schitzophrenia of the left which was so evident in their treatment of Bill Clinton’s ‘women’ has now developed into full blown dementia. They lie, cover up ignore and otherwise distort the policies and actions of this President and his enablers and accomplices in a style which would make Goebbels envious.

Thank you for bringing up Benghazi. Bonehead and his fellow travellers in the GOPe House want to go to war for the President. National Review editors do too!!! What happened with the intrepid investigations into Benghazi and the IRS which Issa was supposed to be fearlessly pursuing! What a laughing stock and shambles the Republican leadership in the House (and the Senate) is.

Thanks for linking the Ryan piece. To equate the Irish, Germans and other ethnic groups who with their diligence, faith and determination built Wisconsin and the American midwest generally to illegals from Mexico and the nefarious activities in which many are involved is just plain idiotic. I hope he is primaried. Like Jeff Flake he is a fraud!

    • RedBrightandTrue

You always leave the most encouraging comments. I always feel as if you appreciate what I post & that’s an encouragement to me. Thank you. :-)

      • deTocqueville1

RBT thank you so much. I feel so blessed by you and the other wonderful folks here. You double as both front line troops and strategic generals. I am hopeful that ‘we the people’ will prevail.

    EH! Buon giorno barbarians!

It’s finally happening over here. The Europeans are bashing “The
Incompetent One” unmercifully! Whoo-hoo! Even on websites like Flickr
where politics is not allowed “His Royal Incompetentness” is getting his
    butt kicked!

I have many acquaintances here in bella Toscana that are in
academia. I have had to listen to their constant ridicule of Governor
Palin for years. Now thanks to the Governor I am shoving her recent
Facebook post in their faces, followed by introducing them to the Palin
Doctrine. Once I get them to listen to the Iowa speech on corrupt crony
    capitalism they are flippin’ hooked.

I do, I do, I do believe in miracles.

Hear is a glorious sunrise I saw a few days ago.

    Keep the faith!

    • deTocqueville1

      Wonderful. Grand how God works!

    • indemind

      Buon giorno JRD1…. va bena

    • Firelight

I love that picture and really love your faithfulness and loyalty to the Governor in spite of your political environment. Blessings to you and have fun saying “I told you so!” :)

      • JRD1

Firelight, the Governor seriously has the Europeans citizens attention right now. They have had 2 world wars fought on their soil. They don’t want another one.
Also, the Governor’s Facebook post has exposed the corrupt media’s disinformation about her. Now that they have educated themselves about who the Governor is and what she stands for they are ready to listen to what else she has to say. Couple that with the fact that she is the mortal enemy of the Bush Mafia who the Europeans also don’t like and who knows the momentum the Governor can build.

        Go Cuda!

        • Firelight

          I *heart* your comment :)

          • RedBrightandTrue

Ditto. I just wanted to hug it, all 3 (4?) paragraphs. :-)

  • deTocqueville1

Incidentally, with Kerry’s revelation that the Qataris and Saudis would finace one hundred percent of the war on Syria, presumably to have that gas pipeline built across it and through Turkey to Europe for all of that Qatari natural gas (and perhaps Saudi too and oil alongside), is the American Military now a mercenary force for hire and has America become a client state of Wahabism?

Term limits, term limits, term limits…….can’t say it enough.

What’s the possibility of Rep. Duncan becoming the next Speaker ??

There’s sooo much more to Syria than retaliation for a monster’s supposed action. Why the rush?? what about all the other “monsters” in the world that use other kinds of wmds??…..why THIS particular monster ?? …..Why is it sooo important that we do this…..even all alone. Who do we think we are that we should put ourselves in the middle of this nightmare, when no one else seems to give a crap ??……no wonder the rest of the world hates us no much.

This whole thing smells nasty and my tin foil hat is almost shaking off my head.

I swear, if either of my sons have to be involved in this…..I don’t know what I’ll do.

    • Bean Counter

Term limits — a terrible idea whose time may finally have come. If voters acted responsibly and voted accordingly, there would be no need for term limits. Unfortunately, it appears there needs to be forced accountability.

      • hrh40

        Yes to the voters comment.

But the corruption has also reached, it seems, impassable limits.

Was it Jefferson who said we need a revolution every 200 years?

I interpret that to mean it takes about that long for the status quo to become so entrenched by corrupt means that only a major shakeup can loosen them.

I do believe that shaking began with Palin’s announcement as the VP candidate when she first started talking about going to Washington to shake things up.

The 2010 election was huge. The Empire Struck Back with limited success in 2012. But how many Senators have already or have announced their retirements – or been forced out – since 2008?

I’m sure there are more. And if Boehner retires and VA can find a way to push Cantor out …

    • BostonBruin

Saw a tweet yesterday hinting that Speaker Boehner was not going to run for re-election next year. Now the story is on TRS:

  • deTocqueville1

H/T the great Pamela Geller to CNSNews on the DOD report that 75,000 troops will be required on the ground to track down and secure the ‘chemical weapons’ in Syria.
So if the Saudis and Qataris are going to finance this ‘thing’ then should we conclude that they will provide the solution for the current ‘hollowing out’ of the military and will they be setting defence policy. Perhaps we know already the answer to the last question.

  • MaMcGriz

    I’m with you, RB&T.

Meanwhile, we look for joy and reasons to give thanks.

    Here’s a look at Chuck Jr.’s newest yard ornaments…. 😉

Check out the hackles on the baby’s rump and withers……time to go back in the house, Chuck!

    • RedBrightandTrue

My first thought when I saw that pic: That baby moose really is not very cute.

  • Riley4Palin

    Breaking News…

While the American people and Congress are not being swayed by the Obama Administration’s push for war, Obama’s stylists have made an emergency call to Howard Dean’s hair salon.

  • Riley4Palin

I’m taking the Broncos over the Ravens tonight. As a matter of fact, I’m taking any team that plays against the Ravens this year after it was announced that the Ravens are helping the Obama WH push for Obamacare.

In other news, Carrie Underwood takes over the intro singing duties from Faith Hill. Yeah!! For all big fans of Carrie and Guns & Roses like me, here is one to enjoy:

    • Bean Counter

Ditto. Couldn’t agree more re: the Raisins. Carrie’s gonna rock the Sunday Night Football thing. I’m tired of Faith Hill….no, I’ll just leave it at that.

      • Riley4Palin

I’d ask you about your Titans this year, but I think I know the answer. LOL

Look at it this way, you could live in SF and have to cheer for Jim Harbaugh’s team. Ugh. Speaking of drama queens, I’m still hoping for a youtube video of a Jim Harbaugh vs Pete Carroll sideline rant sometime this year.

If not, the usual mid-season collapse by Mr. Overrated and Overexposed Tony Romo would suffice.
